Tour Plan
Start your adventure with a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Arbaminch, where you’ll be warmly welcomed and driven to the Konso World Heritage Village. Marvel at their ancient terrace walls, intricately carved generation poles, community houses, and the sacred Waka grave markers. In the afternoon, continue your journey to Turmi and relax overnight at the charming Emerald Lodge, surrounded by the beauty of the Omo Valley.
Begin the day with a drive to visit the Karo tribe, renowned for their exquisite body painting and traditional fishing from the Omo River.
Return to Turmi to witness, if lucky, the famous Hamer bull-jumping ceremony – a coming-of-age ritual steeped in tradition. If the ceremony isn’t happening, enjoy an immersive experience at a Hamer village, watching the locals perform their Evangadi dance.
Spend another memorable night at Emerald Lodge Turmi.
Travel to Omorate, near the Kenya border, and cross the Omo River on a traditional wooden boat to meet the Dassenech tribe, known for their unique lifestyle along the riverbanks. On the way back to Jinka, stop at a vibrant local market (if it’s market day) to experience authentic tribal trade and culture. Relax and stay overnight at Nassa Hotel, Jinka.
Drive through the scenic Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe, famous for their lip plates and striking traditional body scars.
After this rich cultural immersion, return to Jinka for your afternoon flight back to Addis Ababa—taking with you lasting memories of the Omo Valley’s vibrant tribes, striking landscapes, and unforgettable encounters.
