Continue to Simien Mountains National Park, one of Africa’s most spectacular mountain ranges. Known for its rugged peaks, deep valleys, and sweeping escarpments, the park is a paradise for trekkers and nature lovers. Along the way, you may encounter endemic wildlife such as Gelada baboons, Walia ibex, and the elusive Ethiopian wolf while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views.
The journey also takes you south to the Omo Valley, a culturally rich region home to diverse indigenous communities. This area is famous for its unique traditions, colorful ceremonies, and distinct ways of life preserved over generations. Visiting local tribes offers an authentic cultural experience.

Tour Plan
Arrive at Bole International Airport. Upon arrival, you will be met by an Inward Ethiopia Tours representative and transferred to your hotel. You will have a guided city tour.
Visit the National Museum of Ethiopia to see the famous fossil “Lucy” (Dinkinesh) and other archaeological treasures. Explore the Holy Trinity Cathedral, one of the most important Ethiopian Orthodox churches, with beautiful stained-glass windows and the tombs of Emperor Haile Selassie and Empress Menen Asfaw. Drive up to Entoto Mountain for panoramic city views. Visit Entoto Maryam Church and Emperor Menelik II’s historical palace. Explore Merkato Market, Africa’s largest open-air market, to discover spices, handicrafts, coffee, and local life.
Overnight: Addis Ababa
After breakfast, fly to Gondar. You will be welcomed by a local representative and then visit Gondar, Ethiopia’s capital during medieval times, often referred to as the “Camelot of Africa.” The city is famed for its medieval castles and churches.
First, explore the complex of medieval castles and ruins in the Royal Enclosure, a testament to the majesty of the Ethiopian Empire. Afterwards, drive to Simien Mountains National Park.

Enjoy a full-day outing to Simien Mountains National Park to experience the striking scenery and heather-like Afroalpine moorland characteristic of Africa's fifth-highest mountain range. The park is home to rare animals, notably Walia ibex, Ethiopian wolf, and Gelada monkey, all unique to Ethiopia. Birdwatchers can spot the spectacular lammergeier and other species, including the endemic thick-billed raven.
Hike among towering peaks, deep valleys, and enjoy panoramic views of one of Africa’s most dramatic landscapes. Return to Gondar in the late afternoon.

In the morning, visit the peaceful Bathing Pool of Emperor Fasilidas. Explore the famous church of Debre Berhan Selassie, one of Ethiopia’s finest, with walls and ceilings covered in stunning murals of angels.
Transfer to the airport to catch your flight to Lalibela. Explore the town’s world-famous rock-hewn churches, often referred to as “New Jerusalem” and “The Eighth Wonder of the World.” The eleven rock-cut churches were carved in the 12th and 13th centuries from red volcanic rock. This afternoon, visit the Northwestern group: Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael, and Bet Golgotha.
Overnight: Lalibela
After breakfast, set off by car or mule to Asheten Mariam Church, a monolithic church perched at 3,000 m near the summit of Asheten Mountain, which dominates the Lalibela region. Return to town for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the second group of rock-hewn churches: Bete Amanuel, Bete Merkorios, Bete Abba Libanos, Bete Gabriel-Rafael (possibly a former royal palace), and Bete Giyorgis, often regarded as Lalibela’s most beautiful church.

Midday, transfer to the airport to catch your flight back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and prepare for the South Ethiopia tour.

Travel south along the Great Rift Valley to Hawassa, a peaceful lakeside destination. Lake Hawassa offers boat rides, bird watching, and encounters with hippos. Visit the Hawassa Fish Market to observe local fishermen and fresh catches. Enjoy scenic walks along the lake, observing hippos and various bird species.

Start early with a visit to the Hawassa Fish Market. Drive to Arba Minch, situated between Lakes Abaya and Chamo. En route, visit a traditional Dorze village in the Guge Mountains.
The Dorze are known for their tall, beehive-shaped bamboo houses, which can reach up to 10 meters in height. If the base is infested with termites, the entire house can be lifted and relocated—an impressive example of sustainable architecture. Meet villagers, learn about their customs, enjoy traditional music and dance, taste foods made from enset, including “kocho,” and experience local hospitality.
Overnight: Arba Minch
Drive south toward the South Omo Valley. En route, stop at Konso Tribe, renowned for terraced farming and sustainable agricultural practices. Explore the village and, if possible, a local market frequented by the Gato Tribe. Continue through Banna Tribe territories to observe traditional farming. Arrive in Turmi in the late afternoon.

Drive 72 km across wide savannah plains to Omorate to visit the Dassanech Tribe. In the afternoon, visit the Hamar Tribe, known for the Evangadi bull-jumping ceremony. Return to your lodge in the late afternoon.

Drive across the Omo River to visit the Karo Tribe at Korocho Village. Admire the village perched on a high cliff with panoramic views of the Omo River. The Karo are renowned as “Masters of Body Painting,” using white chalk, yellow mineral rock, red iron ore, and charcoal.
Return to Jinka and, if possible, stop at a market frequented by the Aari Tribe. Visit the Mursi Tribe, whose women wear a small wooden plug or “flower” pierced through the lower lip.
Overnight: Jinka
Take a flight back to Addis Ababa. Conclude the journey with a farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian cultural restaurant with music and dance. Transfer to the airport according to your departure flight schedule.
